Project Description

Gord MacLeod

Gord MacLeod Registered Psychotherapist in Toronto

Registered Psychotherapist • RP, He/Him/His

We all, in varying degrees, struggle to bring healthy change into our lives. We easily fall into patterns; we gravitate to the familiar even if the outcomes are not in our best interest. If you find yourself feeling trapped in unhealthy relationships, addictive behaviours, self-harming behaviours, or heightened anxiety, there are a range of psychotherapy modalities that you might find helpful in addressing these challenges. I would be happy to meet with you for a consultation and provide more information about how psychotherapy has helped others and might assist you to bring about the change that you seek.

At present, I am not taking new clients. However, if you would like me to place your name on the waiting list, I will contact you as soon as a space becomes available.

About Gord MacLeod

After graduating from the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy (CTP) in 2006, I completed Levels I and II of trauma treatment training through the Sensorimotor Training Institute. I have attended workshops (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy) through the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre in Toronto and have completed training modules in Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy. More recently my ongoing learning has focused on integrating an anti-racist perspective into my practice through courses including Embodied Anti-Racism: A Mindfulness Way for Therapists and Helping Professionals and A Therapist’s Path to Understanding Implicit Bias and Racial Trauma facilitated by the Academy for Therapy Wisdom. Since 2017, I have been on the faulty of the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy. At present, I am the Board President of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT).

Challenges you might be facing

I work with a variety of concerns including:

What happens in a therapy session

An effective psychotherapy environment is one in which you feel safe enough to speak freely about the challenges that you are facing. We would work as a team to learn more about the underlying factors contributing to the issues and work together to identify and implement healthy change. A large part of my practice is supporting people who have experienced significant trauma, both physical and emotional. For some issues, we might focus on thoughts and emotions. For other situations, including the aftermath of trauma, the work will be more about helping your nervous system to regulate in order that you can, once more, feel safe in the world.

Getting Started

I offer a 30-minute consultation at no charge. This is an opportunity for you to share about the issue(s) that you are facing and ask questions about the process and the way that I work.
