About Lee Kraemer
Even when you can’t control what is happening, talking to a psychotherapist can help you to respond to your challenges in an empowering way.
Your therapy with me will be tailored to your needs. Couples seeking relationship therapy find that a few sessions can improve communication, bring new understanding and reframe what troubles you. Together we can help you build a safer more secure relationship with each other.
I work to help you understand each other’s conscious and unconscious communication.
Humour has helped me in my life, and it can make this difficult work a little easier.
I’m a registered psychotherapist with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) in Toronto and am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT).
Challenges you might be facing
My intention is to “mend not end” your relationship, if at all possible.
I work with couples who want to enrich their relationship, as well as those hoping to preserve a relationship that is being threatened.
A few sessions usually helps identify and change behavior patterns that prevent you from flourishing.
In session I can guide you to feel better, safer, and closer. This will remind you why you chose each other in the first place.
What happens in a therapy session
In both couples therapy and individual psychotherapy, I try to be compassionate, kind, gentle, and collaborative.
Couples sessions are 2 or 3 hours long which means we get to know each other more quickly so that we can get to the crux of the issues that are causing the difficulties between you. This cuts the time and costs of your therapy.
For a number of years I studied and used Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with couples. In 2011, I began to study the “Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy” (PACT) with Stan Tatkin, and have attained Level 3 certification (advanced practitioner) in this modality.
This very effective way of working with relationships has become my primary approach to and influences all my work.
My office is in North York, Toronto.
I offer a 20 minute phone consultation before you book your first appointment. Please email me, giving me your phone number and a good time for us to speak. I will return your call as soon as I am able.
