She/Her/Hers

I primarily work relationally.  The key thing is to establish rapport; a safe space between client and therapist, as well as a sense of security within one’s own body.  I let the client set the starting place for their therapy.  I feel it is essential to respect the culture and life history of the client.  Also, my training in body-based approaches such as biochemistry and somatic therapy can inform my work with clients who are addressing anxieties, depressions and past traumas.

In Person, Online Therapy

It’s difficult to articulate what it is to be oneself – or what one wants to become.  And yet being able to sit with someone in this difficulty and allow words to arrive helps a person to express a reality that resonates with them deeply.  I don’t want to say what your therapy will be but would like to sit with you as you begin to understand what you want to address, whatever urgency and confusions and feelings you might have.

People arrive in therapy with many anxieties and fears – my job is to help you to be present in your body, feeling safe and secure as you explore these emotions and any transitions you are negotiating in your life, and relationships.

Part of my role as the therapist, is to wonder with you about the unconscious and the wisdom of the body, to help you understand the patterns and repetitions with which you might be struggling.  And to help you build a tolerance to the feelings and sensations you may experience when we address these deep issues together.

What Happens In Therapy Sessions

The first few psychotherapy sessions are about getting a deeper sense of the situation you would like to address; getting a sense of what approach may best serve you. This is an organic process. Together, we may understand more about your nervous system; explore tools to support you being more embodied thus allowing you to feel safe and supported even when you are alone or in difficult situations. You may choose to bring in dreams or journal your experiences. Yet, it is us sitting together that invites unveiling of any patterns that you choose to explore. Our initial work will support you being able to be grounded despite the degree of intensity being experienced. These patterns are present in our day to day life. Therefore, simply us being with daily experiences as you share organically in the space we have co-created allows your therapy to progress in a way that serves you.
